Kaibab National Forest encompasses the southern portion of this high-plateau landscape, where the seasonal drainage of Cataract Creek and Cataract Canyon Creek cuts through the Coconino terrain. In this arid region, water management is the primary human imprint, evidenced by an extensive network of named stock tanks such as Cataract Tank, Toughy Tank, and Flying H Tank. The Gila and Salt River Meridian bisects the quadrangle, serving as the foundational survey line for the land's legal division. Transportation is defined by the Espee Road and various unimproved trails that connect remote landmarks like Davis Dam and Burro Spring. This provisional survey provides a snapshot of the infrastructure supporting cattle ranching and resource extraction, including a Gravel Pit and scattered corrals, before modern development or landscape changes altered these traditional land-use patterns in northern Arizona.
