Catclaw Flat and the surrounding peaks of the San Bernardino Mountains define this high-elevation landscape within the San Bernardino National Forest. The geography is shaped by a complex network of seasonal drainages, including Mission Cr and the Whitewater River, which flow through steep features such as Hell for Sure Canyon and Big Morongo Canyon. A significant section of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail winds through the eastern portion of the sheet, tracing the ridgelines near Forks Springs.
