Smith Prairie dominates the northern reaches of this Idaho landscape, where the high, flat ground supports the Smith Prairie Airport and the historic Smith Prairie Cem. This elevated plateau is deeply dissected by the winding course of the South Fork Boise River, which carves through the terrain past distinctive geological landmarks like Steamboat Rock and into the depths of Block Canyon. The elevation change is dramatic as the prairie gives way to the high peaks of the Danskin Mountains and Danskin Ridge to the south.
