Cedar Canyon and the surrounding high ground of the Edwards Plateau define this portion of West Texas along the Upton and Crockett County line. The landscape is characterized by a complex network of dry washes and drainage systems, most notably Javelina Draw and the split headwaters of West Prong Simpson Canyon and East Prong Simpson Canyon.
