About this map

Cedarville and Arcola serve as the primary hubs of this agricultural landscape along the border of Cedar and Dade Counties. The terrain is defined by a dense network of watercourses, including Cedar Cr and its numerous tributaries such as Maybee Br, Pyle Br, and Omer Br. This hydrography created a series of distinct hollows, most notably Spring Hollow, Whitley Hollow, and Carlo Hollow, which influenced early settlement patterns and road placements. For family historians, the sheet is exceptionally detailed, locating several burial grounds including Cedarville Cem, Hickory Grove Cem, and Omer Cem. The road network is a mixture of early state routes like State RD E and a grid of county roads that navigate the many creek crossings, such as Noffsinger Bridge in the north.
