Franklin D Roosevelt Lake dominates this section of the Columbia River valley, serving as a boundary between Ferry and Stevens Counties. The landscape is defined by the significant elevation changes of the Kettle River Range, reaching a high point at Rattlesnake Mtn. The small settlements of Cedonia and Covada anchor the local community, connected by a network of rural routes such as Cedonia-Addy Rd and Silver Creek Rd. Much of the shoreline is protected within the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, where the terrain drops sharply into Stray Dog Canyon. Numerous small water bodies and drainages, including Apex Lake, Bourgeau Lake, and Harvey Cr, detail the watershed's complexity above the reservoir.
