The Anaktuvuk Pass settlement serves as the central focal point of this 1964 survey, situated where the Anaktuvuk River headwaters meet the Brooks Range. The landscape is defined by its massive geological features, including the Grandstand Ridge to the north and the prominent peaks of Gunsight Mtn and Fortress Mtn. A notable human imprint on this wilderness is the Cabin Grandstand Test Well, connected by a remote Tractor Trail that winds through the Chandler River valley.
