Chase Lake and its surrounding watershed define this remote corner of Northern Maine in the early 21st century. The landscape is characterized by a dense network of water bodies and dramatic topographic shifts, including the steep ascent of Ragged Mtn and the prominent Bluffer Ridge. A series of interconnected pools known as the Currier Ponds—ranging from First Currier Pond to Sixth Currier Pond—form a complex hydrologic system fed by First Currier Brook and marked by the site of Thirtyfoot Falls.
