The Washita River meanders across the southern portion of this landscape, forming a critical drainage for a region characterized by extensive watershed management infrastructure. Numerous structures, including Dead Indian-Wildhorse Site 4 Dam and Dead Indian-Wildhorse Site 7 Dam, underscore a concerted effort to control seasonal runoff and provide water resources for this part of Roger Mills County. In the north, the Black Kettle Recreation Area surrounds Dead Warrior Lake, marking a transition toward public lands and conservation. The subsurface economy is clearly visible through the presence of several active extraction zones, such as the Roll SW Gas Field and the Strong City District Gas Field. A network of section-line roads, including d1855 RD and n1820 RD, provides the structural grid for the agricultural and industrial activities defining this western Oklahoma terrain.
