About this map

East Fork Chandalar River dominates this interior Alaska landscape, flowing through a wide valley where it meets its major tributaries. The confluence of the North Fork East Fork Chandalar River and the main stem occurs in the upper half of the quadrangle, creating a complex network of braided channels and river bars. To the west, the Coal River feeds into the system, while Cornucopia Cr drains the southern uplands. This 2018 survey reveals a terrain defined almost entirely by its hydrography and elevation, with no roads or permanent structures indicated. The drainage patterns of these major waterways suggest a high-latitude wilderness where the seasonal flow of the East Fork Chandalar River dictates the shape of the land.
