About this map

The Venetie Indian Reservation occupies much of this 1950s landscape, centered on the settlement of Venetie along the Chandalar River. This remote interior region is defined by a massive network of waterways, including the East Fork Chandalar River and the braided Sheenjek River to the east. The terrain transitions from the rugged heights of Keche Mountain and Helmet Mountain in the north to the low-lying, lake-strewn expanse of the Yukon Flats in the south.
