The N Fork Chena River meanders through this interior Alaska landscape, marking a significant drainage system at the border of the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area and the Fairbanks North Star Borough. The terrain is defined by complex ridgelines and several named tributaries, including Rosebud Cr and Boulder Cr, which flow through deep valleys before joining the larger river system. A smaller drainage, King Cr, is also mapped in the western portion of the quadrangle. This 2018 study emphasizes the hydrology of the upper Chena watershed, illustrating how the headwaters are structured by the surrounding high-elevation contours. The map captures the remote character of this region, where political boundaries follow the natural topography of the land rather than established roads or settlements.
