The northern foothills of the Bears Paw Mountains define this section of Blaine County, where the small community of Cleveland sits at the junction of several rural routes. The landscape transitions from the high peaks of Crown Butte and Timber Butte in the southwest to the drainage basins of Peoples Cr and its many tributaries. A significant portion of the northern map area is dedicated to the Nez Perce National Historical Park, preserving the corridor of the 1877 flight of the Nez Perce.
