Coal Mine Ridge and the surrounding high desert of Carbon County are defined by a network of drainage draws and prominent geological formations. This high-altitude landscape is crossed by the Continental Divide National Scenic Trl, which winds through the central portion of the map past Coal Mine Draw and toward the Atlantic Rim in the south. The area’s hydrology is precarious, characterized by ephemeral features like Ninemile Spring and the seasonally fluctuating Eightmile Lake within its namesake Eightmile Lake Basin.
