The village of Cody anchors the eastern edge of this Nebraska Sandhills landscape, situated just south of the South Dakota state line. The terrain is defined by the winding course of the Cowboy Trl, a prominent recreational path following a former rail corridor through the heart of the region. To the north, Cody Lake and the intermittent waters of Hay Cr mark a shift in the drainage patterns near the Bennett and Cherry county border. In the southern reaches, Bear Cr carves through the undulating topography typical of the High Plains.
