About this map

The Native American Cem in the southeastern corner of this quadrangle highlights the deep cultural and community heritage of Jackson County. This high-plains landscape in the early 21st century is defined by a sparse network of Bureau of Indian Affairs routes, including Bia Rd and Bia Hwy 2, which provide access through the open terrain. The drainage patterns of the region are clearly articulated by the meandering courses of Potato Cr, Little Dog Spring Cr, and Indian Cr. These waterways, along with Bull Cr and Redwater Cr in the south, illustrate the natural topography that dictates the placement of travel corridors such as the Big Foot Trl.
