Potato Cr and its tributaries define the drainage patterns across this stretch of the northern Oglala Lakota territory in the mid-2010s. The landscape is marked by a network of intermittent streams including Little Dog Spring Cr, Indian Cr, and Redwater Cr, which carve through the high plains. A significant local landmark, the Native American Cem, sits in the southeast corner near the junction of tribal routes. The presence of Bombing Range Rd running north-south through the western sections indicates the area's twentieth-century history as part of a military training range. Transportation is largely limited to these few arterial roads, such as Bia-19, which provide access through the township sections of the Pine Ridge region.
