Colville National Forest dominates this section of the Okanogan Highlands, where the hydrological system is defined by the converging branches of the Sanpoil River. The N Fork Sanpoil River, Middle Fork Sanpoil River, and S Fork Sanpoil River carve through the high-elevation terrain between Cooke Mountain and Belcher Mtn. This landscape reflects a history of transit and resource management, evidenced by the presence of Old Stage and Old Kettle Falls Rd, which follow the natural contours of the ridges and valleys. To the east, Midnight Ridge and Timber Ridge rise above the drainage of Lambert Cr, marking a region shaped by timber stands and early mountain passages. The map illustrates a complex network of forest service roads, such as Nat For Dev Rd 380, providing access to these remote reaches of Ferry County.
