Sea Lion Gulch and the steep elevations of the King Range dominate this coastal stretch of Humboldt County, where the land drops precipitously into the Pacific Ocean. This 2015 survey illustrates a wilderness defined by its ridges and drainage systems, notably Cooskie Creek and Spanish Creek, which carve deep canyons as they flow toward the shoreline. The only significant inland access is via Cooskie Ridge Rd, which follows the high ground of Cooskie Ridge above the surrounding ravines.
