Possum Kingdom Lake and the meandering path of the Brazos River dominate this portion of Palo Pinto County. The intricate shoreline is defined by numerous islands and peninsulas, such as Bloodweed Island, Sand Island, and the larger Costello Island landmass. The topography rises sharply from the water to several named heights, including McAdams Peak, Storms Mtn, and Johnson Peak, which provide significant vertical relief over the surrounding basins.
