Grand River National Grassland dominates the eastern portions of this Perkins County landscape, where the high plains of South Dakota are etched by a network of seasonal drainages. Two isolated burial sites, Zion Cem in the north and Bethany Cem near the center of the sheet, provide important landmarks for genealogists and local historians tracing the area's rural heritage. The terrain is defined by the winding paths of Horse Cr, Gooseneck Cr, and Duck Cr, which carve through the prairie. A grid of section lines and gravel routes, including Ludlow Rd, 106th St, and 113th St, facilitates access across the open range. This 2015 survey reflects the contemporary character of this remote agricultural and grazing region, maintaining the sparse settlement patterns established in the preceding century.
