Tongass National Forest dominates this coastal landscape on Prince of Wales Island, where the sea deeply penetrates the timbered terrain through a series of dramatic inlets. The coastline is defined by the narrow reach of Hetta Inlet to the west and the sprawling waters of Nutkwa Inlet and Keete Inlet to the east. These waterways create a complex maritime geography, isolating landforms like Keete Island and Mabel Island and forming protected anchorages at Alder Cove and Mud Bay.
