Lake Champlain serves as the focal point for this borderlands survey, where the waters separate New York from Vermont. On the western shore, the hamlet of Crown Point is surrounded by a cluster of smaller settlements including Crown Point Center, Factoryville, and Street Road. The landscape is dominated by the transition from the lake's edges, such as Gilligans Bay and Lapham Bay, to the steep rise of the Adirondacks. To the south, Mine Hill and Buck Mtn stand near the Adirondack Park Preserve, signaling the region's industrial and conservation history.
