About this map

Elizabethtown and the surrounding Adirondack high country are captured here at a time when the region's economy relied heavily on mountain resources and early valley settlements. The landscape is defined by the winding course of the Boquet River and its tributary, The Branch, which provided the vital corridors for travel and industry through the steep terrain. To the southeast, the industrial importance of the area is evident at Mineville and the activity along the L.C. & M. R.R., which connected the upland mining interests to the rail networks.
