Cumberland Island National Seashore dominates this coastal landscape, where the maritime forest and dune systems are preserved within the Cumberland Island Wilderness. The southern portion of the island is crisscrossed by a network of historic trails and unpaved routes, including the central Grand Avenue (Island Main Road) and several beach access paths. Small settlements like Stafford and Greyfield anchor the cultural history of the island, alongside the Stafford Airport and the Stafford Cem.
