Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument dominates the western portion of this landscape, preserving a network of drainage systems and high ridges in Phillips County. The terrain is defined by prominent elevations such as Thornhill Butte in the north and the parallel formations of Siparyann Ridge and Bell Ridge to the south. These heights overlook a complex hydrology including Siparyann Creek, Hay Coulee, and Duval Creek, which carve through the breaks toward the Missouri River valley.
