The Danskin Mountains dominate this section of the Boise National Forest, where the terrain rises sharply from the winding course of the South Fork Boise River. The river carves through the northeast corner, passing beneath the heights of Black Canyon and the broad expanse of Smith Prairie. This 2013 survey illustrates a landscape defined by significant elevation changes, from the alluvial benches of Lower Bench to the high-altitude vantage of Danskin Peak.
