Pine Hill stands as a prominent landmark in this section of southeastern Montana, marking the divide between the Powder River Co and Carter Co line. The landscape is defined by a dense network of intermittent drainage systems, most notably Stump Cr which meanders through the central and southern portions of the quadrangle. Other seasonal watercourses including Timber Cr, Honeycomb Cr, and Flag Cr illustrate the complex topographical relief of the high plains.
