Dedham and the surrounding Carroll County countryside are defined by a grid of rural roads and the winding path of the Middle Raccoon River. This area of western Iowa maintains its agricultural character, anchored by the small settlements of Willey to the north and Carrollton to the east. The landscape is etched with numerous small watercourses, including Brushy Cr and Dedham Cr, which drain the undulating terrain between the township sections.
