About this map

Crowleys Ridge dominates the western portion of this 1950s survey, rising sharply above the alluvial plains of Craighead and Poinsett counties. This elevated landform is dotted with small family burial grounds and community centers like Mt Pisgah Cem and Houston Cem, contrasting with the flat drainage-dependent landscape to the east. The lowlands are defined by a sophisticated network of artificial waterways, including Ditch No 32 and Ditch No 81, which enabled the intensive agriculture seen surrounding industrial hubs like Trumann.
