Kongakut River flows through this remote arctic landscape in Alaska's north, carving a wide path between steep elevation gains. The river is the central geographical focus of the quadrangle, flanked by the prominent Whale Mtn to the east. This region, documented in 2018, remains an expanse of unpopulated terrain defined by its sharp vertical relief and hydrological patterns. The map provides a high-resolution look at the drainage systems and peaks of the Brooks Range foothills before the river makes its eventual journey toward the Beaufort Sea. Surveyed with 40-foot contour intervals, the data captures the exact topography of the ridges and valleys that dominate the eastern edge of the North Slope.
