Devils Backbone forms the defining ridge of this Texas Hill Country landscape, marking the high ground between the Blanco River basin and the northern reaches of Canyon Lake. This 2019 survey documents the expansion of Wimberley and the residential clusters of Lakefield and Lonesome that have developed along the winding FM 32 and FM 306 corridors. The terrain is deeply dissected by drainage systems like Purgatory Creek and Pinoak Creek, which feed into the Blanco River as it meanders past Boy Scout Lake.
