The high desert plateau of Owyhee County is defined here by deep drainage systems and sprawling ranching basins. The settlement of Dickshooter sits near the eastern edge, connected to the wider landscape by the primitive Dickshooter Rd. The topography is sharply carved by Box Canyon and the winding course of the Dickshooter Creek Wild and Scenic River, which flows through the protected reaches of the Owyhee River Wilderness. To the north, the terrain transitions into the Pole Creek Wilderness and several wide depressions including Antelope Basin and Cowboy Basin. These features, along with prominent landmarks like Flatiron Butte and Big Point, provide a detailed view of a landscape shaped by intermittent water sources such as Antelope Spring and Albert Spring.
