
Plumas National Forest and the protected corridor of the Feather Wild and Scenic River dominate this high-elevation landscape. The topography is defined by significant drops toward the Middle Fork Feather River, where a series of riverside bars including Cleghorn Bar, Sherman Bar, and Butte Bar mark the historic points of access along the river canyon. These river features provide a striking contrast to the surrounding heights of Dogwood Peak and the flat-topped profile of Table Mtn. For modern exploration and historical transit, the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trl winds through the western half of the map, passing landmarks such as Lookout Rock and Stag Point. The area's complex drainage system is evident in the many named ravines and creeks, including Grizzly Cr and Onion Valley Cr, which feed into the river system below.
