The Chehalis River winds through the southern reaches of the Doty Hills in this modern topographic study of Lewis County. The landscape is characterized by its complex drainage network, where Elk Creek, Fall River, and numerous forks of North Fork Lincoln Creek carve into the timbered uplands. Settlement is concentrated along the river corridor and major secondary roads, notably around the small communities of Dryad and Murnen.
