Deerlodge National Forest dominates the southern half of this mid-1990s survey, where the high terrain of Dunkleberg Ridge overlooks a landscape marked by historic resource extraction. The presence of the Forest Rose Mine and various scattered Adits and Prospects indicate the area's long-standing mining activity, particularly around the headwaters of Dunkleberg Creek.
