This survey, based on aerial photography from 1946 and field checked in 1948, captures the isolated character of the Coronado National Forest during the mid-century. Significant ranching landmarks are documented, including the Trask Ranch and Heady-Ashburn Ranch, along with a local Cem and several Windmill sites that sustained life in the arid high desert.

The eastern portion of the map is defined by the San Rafael De La Zanja Boundary, marking a transition from the mountainous terrain into more open drainages like Adams Canyon and Hayfield Draw. To the south, the topographic lines abruptly meet the United States Mexico border and the Arizona Sonora line, illustrating the geography of the borderlands where San Antonio Canyon cuts through the steep slopes.
