Courthouse Rock stands as a prominent landmark on the northern edge of the Eagletail Mountains, marking the transition into the arid expanse of the Harquahala Plain. This 1990 provisional study, based on fieldwork from the mid-1980s, documents a landscape shaped by both dramatic desert geology and scattered mineral exploration. Evidence of human activity is found in the Frenchman Mine on the slopes of Granite Mountain and several unnamed Prospect sites throughout the range. The map illustrates the convergence of several county boundaries, where the border of La Paz, Maricopa, and Yuma counties meet amidst the high peaks. Natural features like the Natural Arch and Eagletail Peak highlight the isolation of this corner of Arizona, while the Centennial Wash provides a primary drainage route through the northern desert flats.
