The Perilla Mountains and the international boundary between Arizona and Sonora dominate this 1980s landscape. Located just east of the city, the Douglas Municipal Airport sits on the edge of the Sulphur Springs Valley, while the terrain to the east rises sharply into high ridges and peaks. The map documents several small settlements and ranching locations, including El Potrerito, El Alamito, and Gallardo, scattered through the arroyos and foothills.

Mining activity is evident throughout the northern mountains, marked by numerous Prospects and Mine Shafts. The southern half of the sheet covers Mexican territory in the state of Sonora, featuring the watercourses of San Antonio and Las Peñitas among the southern slopes of the Perillas. The border itself is precisely marked by a series of international monuments, from Mon 83 to Mon 80, illustrating the division between Cochise County and the Mexican frontier.
