The Funeral Mountains and Greenwater Range frame a stark desert landscape where industrial activity and infrastructure meet the basin floor. An Old RR Grade cuts across the terrain, indicating the former paths of transport that once served the remote mining districts of Inyo County. This 1980s-era documentation shows scattered evidence of mineral exploration, including a Mine, a Gravel Pit, and various Prospect sites throughout the foothills. While much of the land remains undeveloped, modern utilities are present, represented by a TV Facility, Sewage Disposal Ponds, and a Trailer Park. This combination of remnant rail infrastructure and active Prospects reflects the ongoing character of high-desert extraction and subsistence in the shadow of Bat Mountain.
