Frio Draw winds across the High Plains of the Texas Panhandle in this 2019 survey of the area near Easter. The landscape is defined by the rigid geometry of the section-line road system, including a dense network of county roads such as Co Rd 605 and Co Rd 506. This agricultural layout is typical of the Llano Estacado, where the land is partitioned into expansive blocks for cattle and crops. In the northwest corner, US Hwy 60 cuts a diagonal path alongside the Deaf Smith Co and Castro Co boundary line. Numerous small depressions and wetlands are scattered throughout the quadrangle, highlighting the unique hydrology of a region where surface water is transient. Local transportation is supported by state-maintained routes FM 1055 and FM 2397, which serve as the primary conduits between these vast rural holdings.
