The Salmon Mountains define this high-elevation region of the Klamath National Forest, where steep ridgelines separate numerous alpine basins and glacial lakes. Significant summits like Russian Peak, Wildcat Peak, and Grizzly Peak overlook a landscape carved by drainages such as Miners Cr and Sugar Cr. The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail traverses the western half of the map, providing a vital north-south artery through the wilderness, passing near Statue Lake and the Horse Range Lakes.
