The Mojave Desert terrain dominates this 2018 survey, centered on the high desert community of El Mirage. The landscape is defined by isolated peaks and ridges rising from the basin floor, notably Black Butte and the distinctive Three Sisters formation. On the eastern edge of the quadrangle, Mt Elmo, Gray Mtn, and Black Mtn provide significant vertical relief above the desert floor.
