The glacial landscape of Grant County is defined by a dense concentration of lakes and prairie wetlands, anchored by the community of Elbow Lake. A network of township roads and highways, including Us-59 and Us-79, connects the scattered farmsteads and rural cemeteries that document the region's cultural history. To the southeast, the Pomme de Terre River flows through a chain of water bodies including Pomme de Terre Lake and Barrett Lake, near the village of Barrett.
