The Cabinet Mountains define this high-elevation wilderness within the Kootenai National Forest and Kaniksu National Forest. The landscape is dominated by alpine features, including Elephant Peak and Chicago Peak, which overlook a series of glacial basins and high passes such as Saint Paul Pass and Milwaukee Pass. These remote drainages feed the E Fork Bull River and Rock Cr, creating a network of isolated water bodies like Isabella Lake and Engle Lake.
