The Niobrara River winds through the northern portion of this Sandhills landscape, creating a distinct topographical corridor marked by sharp elevation changes and spring-fed hydrology. Access across the water is provided at Boiling Spring Bridge and further downstream at Mogle Bridge, two critical crossing points for local connectivity. To the south, the terrain levels into the vast dune formations characteristic of Cherry County, including a portion of the Sam R. McKelvie National Forest in the southeastern corner. The drainage of Medicine Creek (also labeled as Medicine Cr) cuts through the central and southern sections, revealing a network of seasonal watercourses and unique Nebraska hydrology. This survey provides a precise view of the interface between protected federal lands and the working ranchlands of the Great Plains.
