2011 Map of Emigrant Gap

About this map

Saint Mary Canal snakes across the northern borderlands of Glacier County, Montana, just south of the international boundary between the Canada and the United States. This survey captures the high-plains landscape where the North Fork Milk River meanders through expansive plateaus such as HungryHorse Flat and Pikuni Flat. The terrain is defined by natural depressions and rises, including The Basin and the prominent Twin Buttes in the southeast. Named for the historic passage through this stretch of the northern front, Emigrant Gap sits near the head of Dubray Coulee, marking a transition in the local topography where seasonal drainage feeds into the Milk River system.
