Empire Swamp dominates the center of this northern Wisconsin landscape, a wet wilderness in Douglas County where the headwaters of the Upper Tamarack River take shape. The terrain is defined by a dense network of hydrologic features including Buckety Creek, Thompson Creek, and Crotte Creek, which meander through the lowlands south of the Summit Tower Fire Ln.
