The Neosho River meanders through the southwestern corner of this mid-century survey, defining the agricultural landscape of Neosho County. The town of Erie serves as a central hub, while the southern settlement of St Paul is anchored by the St Francis Ch and its adjacent St Francis Cem. The infrastructure of the era is clearly visible through the competing routes of the Missouri Kansas Texas and the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe railroads, which facilitated the region's transport and trade.
