Eureka sits at the eastern edge of this South Dakota landscape, where the prairie begins to break into a complex network of wetlands and small water bodies. The terrain is defined by glacial depressions that form Hausauer Lake and numerous unnamed marshes, creating a pocketed topography across the border of Campbell and McPherson counties. The town's local history is anchored by several spiritual and commemorative sites, including the Zion Lutheran Cem and the Church of God Cem, located north of the municipal center.
